Healing Methods

Begin your journey to a healthier lifestyle through Yoga Therapy, MBSR, Hakomi, and Meditation.

Therapeutic Yoga

In these classes you will learn reliable and practical methods to release tension and pain from legs, hips, back, neck and shoulders.

Carefully selected yoga postures and breathing techniques will help you release deep-seated tensions from muscles and joints. You will learn proper alignment techniques through the use of props (blankets, strap, blocks, and chair) and what you can do yourself to best support and keep your body open, more flexible and resilient. Classes include traditional hatha yoga postures including standing postures, as well as elements of Svaroopa yoga.  You’ll discover a new sense of flexibility and strength, feel more energized and at the same time experience a profound quieting of mind and a deep sense of relaxation.

Meditation

Our true, inherent nature is one of peace, stillness and joy.  This pure state often becomes disturbed through our endless thoughts, everyday actions and hectic lifestyles.   Pranayama (breath control) and Dhyana (meditation) are tools from the ancient sages that help us discover that peace within.

In our ‘Meditation Study Groups’ and ‘Pranayama and Meditation workshops’ (now available online) you will learn basic asanas (postures) and breathing techniques that prepare the body for sitting, quiet the mind and nervous system. We explore guided and non-guided meditations, reflect on different spiritual texts plus deepen our understanding through group dialogue.

Living From Your True Self

Living from your true self. A process of Self-Inquiry also called Svadhyaya.

Living from your True Self is a process of self-inquiry, a way of getting to know and understand Self.  Drawing on elements of The Hakomi Method and Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing (SE) this process employs loving presence, studying experiences in mindfulness, awareness of body sensations, and a deep inward listening.  The practitioner will guide you to explore feelings and thoughts through the body’s sensations and study mind/body patterns that are no longer serving you well.

MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction)

MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD and colleagues at the Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts Medical Center. MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) is a life affirming 8-week course in conscious living.

Learn how specific mindfulness practices can reliably bring a greater sense of well-being and peace, plus allow you to meet disturbing life events with more grace and composure.

Increase your ability to cope with stress resulting from chronic physical pain and the challenges of everyday life and be more fully present and alive in this moment.
